Sometimes wedding inspiration strikes in the most delicious way! For Marlaina and Shelby, it all started with a mixed berry millefoglie cake that became the foundation for their entire wedding vision.

Their gorgeous mixed berry-inspired palette came to life beautifully at The Fairmount Hotel, where Olive Thyme transformed their cake concept into sculptural florals in rich berry tones. But here’s what really got us: Nicole didn’t just create those stunning centerpieces and call it a day. At the end of the night, she came back and transformed all those gorgeous arrangements into the sweetest take-home posy bar for guests. Honestly, getting double the impact from your floral budget while giving guests something meaningful to remember your day is genius.

We also have to gush about Melissa from Stella Shots Media because wow, the way she captured every moment had us feeling like we were right there celebrating with them. Marlaina clearly felt the same! She told us: “Melissa was probably our favorite vendor because she has an incredible natural talent for pulling the moments out of people and always providing the spunk and energy needed to allow you to relax and candidly create some truly beautiful shots. She also recommended us to all of our subsequent vendor hires to really create a dream team of creatives.” Honestly, finding a photographer who not only makes you feel comfortable but also connects you with an entire team of amazing vendors? That’s wedding planning gold.

The couple’s favorite moment of their day perfectly tied everything together. Instead of the traditional cake cutting, Marlaina and Shelby made it their own by collaborating to top their Italian-style Millefoglie cake from The Cake Shop with fresh berries and powdered sugar. “We love cooking together so to be able to take the traditional cake cutting and make it a collaborative experience made it so much more exciting and intimate,” Marlaina shared. She’s also been ordering cakes from The Cake Shop since she was little. How sweet is that?

The couple looked so elegant in their timeless wedding day looks, but the bride opted for a slightly retro second look with an adorable satin mini dress that was absolutely perfect for dancing the night away. One pro tip we learned from her: make some time for a quick second look photoshoot with your photographer before you head back to the party.

The newlyweds biggest piece of advice? “Hire creative vendors and give them your theme and free range to run with it from there, because they’re the experts.

We couldn’t agree more!
