Vows That Wow: Felipe & Mario’s Black Tie Affair At The Preserve At Canyon Lake
✨ Vows That Wow: Each month, our editors review dozens of San Antonio weddings and select the best of the best to feature as our Vows that Wow. ✨
When the RSVP cards arrive from your dogs, you already know the wedding is going to be something special. Choco and Eleven formally requested the pleasure of your company at their dads’ wedding, and honestly? That energy carried straight through every single moment of Felipe and Mario’s celebration at The Preserve at Canyon Lake.
Guests flew in from across the country, showed up in head-to-toe black per the dress code, and were ready to show out — and the couple absolutely delivered. The ceremony was perfectly intimate, with everyone gathered in a circle around Felipe and Mario as they exchanged vows. Since the grooms own MOAB & Co., their eye for event and floral design naturally shaped the entire vision, and Bloom and Stem said yes to every idea, bringing that vision to life with a breathtaking floral design — cascading blush and white blooms tumbling from pedestals on either side of the couple, framing the moment.
And can we talk about the details? Nods to the pups showed up on the Full Spectrum Ice sculpture and the cutest cocktail napkins. A welcome sign featured a life-size illustration of the two grooms. Reception tables were styled with mix-and-match linens and lamps, set beneath a sculptural draped fondant cake with olive draping woven into the styling overhead. MOAB & Co. brought the draping and decor vision to life, with rentals from Bright Event Rentals layered in beautifully, and Sweet August Events keeping every moving piece perfectly in place. Cat Haus Collective provided their signature getaway car, perfectly nicknamed Charlie, for the newlyweds’ grand exit.
And then…the party really started. The newlyweds made their grand entrance with custom matracas alongside a live mariachi, drag performers took the floor, and a disco ball DJ stand set the entire vibe. Homemade rainbow conchas, street tacos, and Mexican Cokes closed out the evening. But the moment everyone is still talking about? The entire room dancing La Vibora de la Mar while Felipe and Mario held a Mexican flag — honoring their heritage, their community, their family, and their love all at once. As the grooms shared, “It’s something you can feel in every photo, and a moment we will carry with us forever.”
From the “Love is Love” and “Los Gays” branded merch to every last thoughtful detail, this wedding was a reflection of exactly who Felipe and Mario are. Truly iconic, completely them, and one we’re so honored to feature.
